Brahms: Double Concerto for Violin and Cello
Strauss: Also sprach Zarathustra

Robert Max conductor
Tamsin Waley-Cohen violin, Gemma Rosefield cello

Tamsin Waley-Cohen

Fiery and tender, and including some of his most lyrical melodies, Brahms' concerto for violin and cello has the character of an instrumental love duet. Rising stars Tamsin Waley-Cohen and Gemma Rosefield join the orchestra in this, the last of Brahms’ orchestral works.

Well known for its opening 'sunrise' theme, Strauss' Also sprach Zarathustra is one of his most dramatic and gripping tone poems. Hugely enjoyable for the richness of its scoring, its melodies and harmonic structures, in part it represents a struggle between Man and Nature for supremacy.
