Mahler's much admired and deeply spiritual second symphony is an extended personal statement scored for choir, vocal soloists and large orchestra. We are pleased to present this performance with local choirs and in collaboration with the Musicians Benevolent Fund, in this year of their ninetieth birthday celebrations.

Dvořák's lively and tuneful Slavonic Dances are ever popular with audiences. Bartók's evocation of seduction and brutality in The Miraculous Mandarin is one of the most sensational and exciting of 20th century scores. For Brahms' dramatic and lyrical 2nd Piano Concerto we are delighted to be joined again by the versatile pianist Tom Poster.
