Mussorgsky's much-loved Pictures at an Exhibition is a musical stroll around a gallery, to be heard in this performance in the brilliant orchestration by Ravel. The orchestra is joined for Ravel's jazz-inspired piano concerto by highly regarded pianist Alasdair Beatson and the concert also includes Tchaikovsky's imaginative portrayal of the drama and romance of Shakespeare's The Tempest. Prize winners, Walton & Brahms

Our commission from Alex Symcox, winner of the orchestra's Composition Competition, opens the concert. Royal Philharmonic Society award winning Ariana Kashefi joins us as soloist in Walton's warm and wistful Cello Concerto and the concert closes with Brahms in the playful and radiant mood of his second symphony.
